Filipino Beef Steak

Ingredients:

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
1 large onion, cut into rings
2 pounds beef sirloin, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup water

Directions:

Prepare Marinade: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, lemon juice, sugar, and ground black pepper.
Cook Onions: Heat half of the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion rings and cook until they are soft and translucent. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cook Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Cook the beef and garlic until the beef is browned.
Add Marinade and Simmer: Pour the marinade and water into the skillet with the beef. Bring to a simmer and cook until the beef is tender, about 20-25 minutes.
Combine and Serve: Return the cooked onions to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through. Serve hot.
