Classic Homestyle Salisbury Steak with Creamy Garlic Infused Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

For the Salisbury Steak:

1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup sautéed mushrooms (optional)

For the Gravy:

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Creamy Garlic Infused Mashed Potatoes:

2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:

Prepare the Salisbury Steak:

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined.
Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Gravy:

In the same skillet, add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to make a roux.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, soy sauce, dried thyme, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
Return the cooked patties to the skillet, along with the sautéed mushrooms if using. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the patties are heated through and coated with the gravy.
Prepare the Creamy Garlic Infused Mashed Potatoes:

Place the potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot. Add the milk, sour cream, and butter. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve:

Serve the Salisbury steak patties with the creamy garlic infused mashed potatoes. Spoon extra gravy over the steak and potatoes if desired. Enjoy this classic and comforting meal!
