Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp unsalted butter
For the Mashed Potatoes:

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup whole milk
4 tbsp unsalted butter
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash until smooth.
Stir in the butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside and keep warm.
Cook the Ground Beef:

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Make the Gravy:

Sprinkle the flour over the browned beef and stir until fully absorbed. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
Assemble:

Serve the ground beef and gravy generously over a bed of warm mashed potatoes.
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 4

Enjoy this hearty and comforting dish of Ground Beef and Gravy over creamy mashed potatoes!
