Cheesesteak Stromboli – a bite of bliss awaits

Ingredients:

– 1 lb beef steak, thinly sliced
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 onion, sliced
– 1 bell pepper, sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
– 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
– 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
– 1 package pizza dough (about 1 lb)
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Directions:

Prepare the Filling:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened (about 5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in the thinly sliced beef, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Roll Out the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12×15 inches.

Assemble the Stromboli:
Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the provolone and mozzarella cheese on top of the beef mixture.

Roll and Seal:
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking in the sides as you go to seal the filling inside. Pinch the seams to secure the edges.

Prepare for Baking:
Transfer the rolled Stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a golden finish.

Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Serve:
Slice the Cheesesteak Stromboli into pieces and serve warm. Enjoy the deliciously cheesy and savory filling encased in golden, flaky dough!
