Chinese-Style Beef and Onion Stir-Fry
Savory Chinese Beef and Onion Stir-Fry
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
1/4 cup beef broth (low-sodium)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
Green onions, sliced, for garnish
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a medium bowl, toss the sliced beef with cornstarch, soy sauce, and a pinch of salt. Set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions, bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender but still crisp.
Return the beef to the skillet, add oyster sauce, sesame oil, and beef broth. Stir well to coat everything in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened.
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
