Ingredients
Ground Beef: 1 lb
Onion: 1 small, finely chopped
Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
Ketchup: 1/2 cup
Yellow Mustard: 2 tablespoons
Sweet Pickle Relish: 1/4 cup
Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tablespoon
Salt and Black Pepper: to taste
Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup, shredded (or American cheese)
Sesame Seed Hamburger Buns: 4-6 buns
Lettuce: Shredded (for topping)
Tomato: Sliced (for topping)
Pickles: Sliced (for topping)
Special Sauce (optional):
Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup
Ketchup: 2 tablespoons
Sweet Pickle Relish: 2 tablespoons
White Vinegar: 1 teaspoon
Garlic Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Directions
Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add Sauces:
Stir in the ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly.
Prepare Special Sauce (Optional):
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, and garlic powder. Mix well and set aside.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and cheddar cheese.
Serve:
Drizzle with special sauce if using, then place the top half of the bun on each sandwich. Serve immediately with your favorite sides!
Tips:
For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
Customize toppings with your favorite burger toppings like bacon or jalapeños.
