Classic Chicken Cordon Bleu
This timeless recipe combines tender chicken, savory ham, and melted Swiss cheese, all wrapped in a crispy, golden breadcrumb coating. Perfect for a comforting dinner that feels like a treat!
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices ham (preferably thinly sliced)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works well for extra crunch)
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional for extra flavor)
1 tbsp melted butter
Directions
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Chicken: Place each chicken breast between plastic wrap and gently pound to an even thickness (around 1/4 inch).
Layer with Ham and Cheese: Lay one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each chicken breast. Roll up the chicken, tucking in the sides to fully enclose the filling, and secure with toothpicks.
Season & Coat: Season the flour with salt and pepper, then dredge each rolled chicken in the flour, dip in beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan (if using).
Bake: Place the rolled chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with melted butter for extra crispiness. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve: Remove toothpicks, slice, and serve with your favorite side. Enjoy this cheesy, crispy delight!
