Smokey Sloppy Joe with Provolone

Indulge in this flavorful twist on a classic favorite, combining smoky barbecue-infused sloppy joe filling with melted provolone cheese for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

2 pounds ground beef
2 cans (15 oz each) sloppy joe sauce (Del Monte brand recommended for its smoky BBQ flavor)
8 slices provolone cheese
8 hamburger buns

Instructions:

Cook the Ground Beef:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked.
Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Add Sloppy Joe Sauce:

Pour the sloppy joe sauce into the skillet with the cooked ground beef.
Stir to combine, ensuring the meat is evenly coated with the sauce.
Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Prepare the Buns:

While the meat mixture is simmering, preheat your oven’s broiler.
Place the hamburger buns, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
Assemble and Melt Cheese:

Spoon a generous portion of the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of the meat mixture.
Position the baking sheet under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
Serve:

Remove from the oven and top each sandwich with the other half of the bun.
Serve hot, accompanied by your favorite side dishes.
Enjoy this delicious and easy-to-make meal that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings!
