Garlic Butter Steak Fried Rice

Savory Garlic Butter Steak Fried Rice with a Touch of Umami

Ingredients:

2 cups cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old)
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
2 green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: fried egg for topping

Directions:

In a large skillet or wok, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the steak is browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Add the mixed vegetables and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until they are tender.

Add the cooked jasmine rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, stirring well to combine all the ingredients. Return the cooked steak to the skillet and mix everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Finally, stir in the chopped green onions and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, topped with a fried egg if desired.
