Spaghetti Pie
Spaghetti Pie is a delightful twist on traditional pasta dishes, combining the flavors of spaghetti and lasagna into a savory pie that’s perfect for family dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
6 ounces spaghetti (about half a package)
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs, beaten
For the Filling:
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Prepare the Spaghetti Crust:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the spaghetti according to package directions; drain.
In a large bowl, combine the hot cooked spaghetti, butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and beaten eggs. Mix well.
Press the spaghetti mixture into a greased 10-inch pie plate to form a crust.
Prepare the Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato paste, sugar, and dried oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assemble the Pie:
Spread the cottage cheese over the bottom of the spaghetti crust.
Pour the meat mixture over the cottage cheese layer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the pie stand for 5 minutes before slicing into wedges.
