Old-Fashioned Egg Custard Pie: rich, creamy, and straight from the heart of homemade tradition
Ingredients
1 unbaked pie crust
1 cup sugar
6 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
3 cups whole milk, room temperature
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg, garnis
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until smooth.
4. Add the vanilla and ¼ teaspoon nutmeg. Mix until fully combined.
5. Slowly pour in the whole milk, whisking continuously until well blended.
6. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
7. Sprinkle ⅛ teaspoon of nutmeg evenly over the top as garnish.
8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
9. Let cool completely before slicing. Refrigerate for best texture.
