Ingredients:
1 head of cabbage, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 tsp minced garlic
5 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
Reserved bacon grease
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Cook the Bacon:
Cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside to cool. Reserve the bacon grease.
Sauté Onion:
In a deep-sided pot or skillet, heat the reserved bacon grease over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Garlic:
Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Cook Cabbage:
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the chopped cabbage to the pot. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic.
Cover the pot and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Season:
Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
Sauté for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
Add Bacon:
Crumble the cooked bacon and sprinkle it over the cooked cabbage.
Stir to combine and heat through.
Serve:
Serve the fried cabbage hot, garnished with additional crumbled bacon if desired.
Enjoy this comforting and flavorful dish!
