Crispy Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce & Creamy Dip
There’s nothing quite like biting into a golden, crispy mozzarella stick and getting that cheesy pull! Whether it’s for a snack, appetizer, or game-day treat, these homemade mozzarella sticks will be gone in seconds.
Ingredients:
12 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
½ cup panko breadcrumbs (for extra crunch!)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried oregano
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ cup grated Parmesan (optional)
Oil for frying
For Dipping:
Warm marinara sauce
Ranch or garlic aioli
Directions:
1 Freeze the cheese – Place mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour (prevents cheese from melting too fast).
2 Coat the sticks – Set up a breading station with 3 bowls:
Bowl 1: Flour
Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
Bowl 3: Italian breadcrumbs, panko, garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and Parmesan.
Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mix. Repeat egg + breadcrumbs for a double coat.
3 Fry or bake:
Frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry in batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Baking: Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes.
Air Fryer: Cook at 390°F (200°C) for 6-7 minutes, flipping halfway.
4 Serve hot with marinara sauce & creamy dip.
