Ingredients
For the Steak:
- 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Pasta and Sauce:
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup ranch dressing
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Black pepper, to taste
- Salt, as needed
For Garnish:
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Fresh cracked black pepper
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the penne pasta according to package directions until al dente.
- Drain and set aside.
2. Season and Cook the Steak
- In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced steak with Cajun seasoning, a pinch of salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak and sear for 2–3 minutes, or until browned and just cooked through.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
3. Make the Creamy Sauce
- In the same skillet (don’t clean it — the flavor from the steak will enhance the sauce), melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the heavy cream, ranch dressing, and honey.
- Let the mixture simmer gently for 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of black pepper.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and continue stirring until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
4. Combine Everything
- Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the cheese sauce.
- Return the cooked steak to the pan and stir everything together.
- Let cook for another 2–3 minutes, just until everything is heated through and well coated.
5. Serve and Garnish
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley and a sprinkle of cracked black pepper.
- Optional: Add a side of garlic bread or a crisp green salad for a complete meal.
Tips & Variations
- Don’t overcook the steak: Thin strips cook fast! Keep them tender by searing quickly over high heat.
- Make it spicier: Add crushed red pepper flakes or extra Cajun seasoning for more heat.
- Different cheese options: Swap cheddar for a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack, or try it with pepper jack for extra kick.
- Use another pasta shape: This works great with rotini, rigatoni, or fettuccine too.
Storage
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of cream or milk to restore the sauce’s creaminess.
