Ingredients
- 1 small seedless watermelon
- 1 cup tequila (preferably silver or blanco)
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice (about 2–3 limes)
- ¼ cup simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar, dissolved)
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Slice and Cut the Watermelon
- Cut the watermelon into 1-inch thick rounds.
- Use a small round cookie cutter or the rim of a shot glass to cut out bite-sized circles from each slice.
- Set aside the rounds on a tray or plate.
Step 2: Prepare the Tequila Mixture
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and sea salt.
- Stir well until everything is fully blended.
Step 3: Soak the Watermelon
- Gently dip each watermelon round into the tequila mixture, coating it completely.
- Let any excess drip off, then place the rounds back on the plate.
- Optional: You can also place the watermelon bites directly into the bowl and let them marinate in the mixture for more intense flavor.
Step 4: Chill and Infuse
- Cover and refrigerate the soaked watermelon bites for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- This allows the alcohol and citrus flavors to soak in and chill the bites to perfection.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the watermelon bites from the fridge and arrange them on a serving platter.
- Top each bite with a fresh mint leaf.
- Place a small lime wedge beside each for a vibrant presentation and a zesty pop.
Step 6: Enjoy!
- Serve immediately for the freshest flavor.
- These are best enjoyed cold — juicy, tangy, boozy, and oh-so-refreshing.
Tips & Variations
- Make it spicy: Add a dash of chili powder or Tajín seasoning before marinating for a spicy-sweet twist.
- Go zero-proof: Swap tequila with sparkling water and a splash of agave syrup for a kid-friendly or mocktail version.
- Presentation hack: Serve on mini skewers or cocktail picks for easy party handling.
- Extra cold: Chill the serving platter or add crushed ice beneath for a longer-lasting chill.
Storage
These are best served fresh, but you can prepare and marinate them up to 6 hours ahead. Keep covered and refrigerated until ready to serve.
