Ingredients

Protein & Veggies

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

For the Hoisin Stir-Fry Sauce

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

1. Marinate the Beef and Shrimp

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined.
  • Add the sliced beef and shrimp to the bowl, tossing to coat.
  • Cover and marinate for 20 minutes in the refrigerator while prepping your vegetables.

Tip: For extra flavor, marinate for up to 1 hour.

2. Sauté the Garlic

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.

3. Cook the Beef and Shrimp

  • Add the marinated beef and shrimp to the skillet.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, for 5–7 minutes, or until the beef is browned and the shrimp turns pink and opaque.

Note: Be careful not to overcook the shrimp—once they curl and turn opaque, they’re done!

4. Add the Vegetables

  • Add the sliced red bell pepper and broccoli florets to the skillet.
  • Stir-fry for an additional 3–4 minutes, or until the vegetables are just tender-crisp.
  • Pour in any remaining marinade and cook for 2 more minutes, stirring to coat everything evenly and heat the sauce through.

5. Serve

  • Serve hot, directly from the skillet, over a bed of steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
  • Garnish with optional toppings like toasted sesame seeds, green onions, or chopped cilantro for extra flair.

Serving Suggestions

  • Steamed jasmine or basmati rice
  • Lo mein, soba, or rice noodles
  • Side of Asian cucumber salad or edamame
  • Drizzle with extra sriracha for some heat!

Storage & Leftovers

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently on the stovetop over medium-low heat or in the microwave.
  • Add a splash of soy sauce or water when reheating if the sauce thickens too much.
