2 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas with melted butter. Stir in sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well blended.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
