Easy Blueberry Jam Recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
1. Wash the fresh blueberries thoroughly and drain. If using frozen blueberries, let them thaw slightly.
2. Place the blueberries in a large saucepan over medium heat.
3. Add the sugar and lemon juice, stirring to combine.
4. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries release their juices and the sugar dissolves completely.
5. Use a wooden spoon or potato masher to mash the blueberries to your desired consistency.
6. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens.
7. If using vanilla extract, stir it in during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
8. Test the jam’s consistency by placing a small amount on a cold plate and letting it sit for a few seconds. If it doesn’t run easily, it’s ready.
9. Pour the jam into sterilized jars and let it cool completely before sealing.
Tip: Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months, or sterilize the jars for longer shelf life.
Enjoy your blueberry jam on toast, pancakes, or as a delicious topping for desserts!
